Summary: The commemorative plaque to the historians of the archdiocese of Zagreb, Ivan Krstitelj Tkalčić (1840-1905) and Janko Barlé (1860-1941)

The author, the present Grand Master of the Society og “The Brethren of the Croatian Dragon” (founded in Zagreb in 1905, abolished by the communist regime in 1945 and reestablished in 1990) presents the organization and activities of the Society, one purpose of which is to mark buildings and locations of historical importance and to erect commemorative plaques to outstanding persons of Croatia.

After the Society erected in 1910 a commemorative plaque to Ivan Krstitelj (John Baptist) Tkalčić on the house in Zagreb, Nova Ves 41, where he was born, the second commemorative plaque was erected in 1990 on the prebendary palace, at Nova Ves 14 to both the before mentioned I. K. Tkalčić and Janko Barlé. As the second erection of the commemorative plaque was initiated by the author himself, who at the time was the Master Chaplain of the Society, it adds the value of a personal testimony to the disclosure of the material from the Society’s archives.
